The Arts Center of Brazos Valley, in collaboration with The Kimbell Cultural Event Center, The Queen’s Film Society, and the City of Bryan, presents an Indian Film Series this spring in the Brazos Valley. The series will consist of a one-day mini-festival of Indian cinema on June 7 at the Kimbell Cultural Event Center.
This unique event offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience four landmark and contemporary films that together span nearly eight decades of artistic innovation, cultural reflection, and cinematic form. From the humanist realism of mid-century masters to bold experimental works and globally celebrated contemporary cinema, the program is designed to introduce audiences to the richness and diversity of Indian film history.
The Indian Film Series is a key part of The Arts Center’s second annual Arts and Culture Festival, which highlights a different culture each year. The film series, and festival as a whole, aim to foster an appreciation for other cultures and give residents and visitors access to experiences they might not otherwise have. Each of these films offers a glimpse into human experiences that are uniquely part of Indian culture and not necessarily known by the general public. Each film will receive an introduction by an expert in film studies and/or Indian arts and culture.
